[Meanwhile, Virgil is still hanging out with Filis. He was going to do some scrying or something. We can assume he's got all his materials and all, which he can describe to us at his leisure.] [Sub-session start.] * Virgil prepares to scry on Shan and the others after taking a bit to collect a few materials and setting aside a nice, quiet place to conduct the scrying from. * Virgil has, with him, the familiar bowl and crystal ball that he used earlier, as well as one of Shan's acupuncture needles, and one of the bandages that used to dress Nasira's wounds. * Filis peers over the various materials. "You truly need all that?" WEll, the bowl and water are used for the scrying. Scrying is typically wind and water based, and has to do with knowledge. These two items are capable of helping focus those elements so they're easier to use and more powerful. * Filis nods, though her face makes it obvious she's not fully comprehending. * Virgil pauses and tries to put it in layman's terms. "The bowl and the crystal ball make the spell work better." Ah. And the bandages and needles? It works better if you have a personal item nearby. Something about a person stays with an item after they have it or use it. I see. And you intend to use this to spy? Well, uh... I guess you could call it spying. I like to think of it more as making sure they're all right, though. After all, you expressed concern too. * Filis frowns. "Indeed. Please proceed." * Virgil takes the materials and soaks them in the water, leaving them there. He then proceeds to concentrate and, well, let's see how the magic works, shall we? [The water of the pool shimmers and ripples. Soon enough, Virgil sees Shan talking to Naiya. Naiya herself doesn't look in good shape. Enzo's also there, but Nasira can't be spotted. It's dark, but they seem to be near some sort of cliff.] * Virgil ponders as he observes the image(s). "Hmmm, a cliff. Do you know of any cliffs near here?" I can't say I do. This is my first time on this particular Maltan island. Well that makes two of us. Well, I doubt they left the island. Unless there is another boat we do not know about. Do you see anything else? Hmmm, well, I could make it bigger, let's see now... [Virgil manages to push his scrying out further but something seems...wrong. The outer edge of the image wavers, and even Virgil feels something pushing back against his scrying attempts. Between the darkness and the wavering though, he can't make out anything solid.] [It does incorporate Nasira clearly now. And Naiya who just climbed. Basically the stuff in the main channel.] * Virgil frowns. "Something or someone's working against me here." Are you sure? Oh, I'm pretty positive. I don't normally get this much... resistance. * Filis frowns. "So someone knows we're watching? Maybe? You're not certain? Well, you can never be certain with these things. I wouldn't know... * Filis looks into the pool, awe-struck. "Your power is certainly impressive." Yeah, well, don't expect me to hurl fireballs or anything. * Virgil smiles sheepishly. * Filis glances up suddenly at Virgil. "I should hope not on a tinderbox of a ship like this!" * Virgil blinks. "Oh." Yes? Nothing, nothing. * Filis leans forward a bit and looks, well more peers at Virgil. "No. Tell." Well, just about throwing fireballs in a ship. I wasn't talking throwing them here and now or anything. * Filis blinks. "Oh." [She sighs and lies back. "Should you try again? * Filis blinks at the latest scene with the saif throw. "What is she aiming at?" I... really don't know. But...oh, I think I'm going to be ill.. [The scene most prevalent on the scrying pool is now the bloodied saif.] [The hazy feeling over Virgil's scrying seems to have disappeared now. Not that the situation looks much better. Virgil just catches the edge of the canyon rock-sliding down below.] [Since Virgil's not doing anything, session end. :P]
