[Last time on Seekers...] [Shan investigated ahead in the eerie, dreary town of Forthswith in order to get help for Port Rio. Because she's the prime delegate, extra sneaky, and just generally nosy. But that nosiness got the better of her here.] ( It's also governmental business ) [What she came to was a ghost town. Almost literally. All the doors were locked tight, all the windows hastily barred, and all the streets pitch black. Shan heard some sounds and lit up her arm in order to investigate only to find an undead captain staring back at her. There's several shapes shuffling in the background as well. This is not a good sign.] [Session Start] * Shan backs away quickly. So quickly she trips on a low step and falls to the ground. Her eyes are wide with fright. "D-Don't come any closer!" Her arms light up with uncontrolled electricity, too. [The pirate captain shuffles closer. He only seems to have one eye and his flesh is festering and rotten where it shows. He raises his arm with the sword and gives her a light growl.] * Shan scrambles backwards. [The captain approaches and starts his swing. Initiative time.] [Shan first, then captain, then others!] * Shan staggers to her feet and runs, hastily knocking over whatever she can to form a barrier between her and the non-living dude. [Shan manages to make headway. Where she running to?] ( Anywhere that looks safe ) ( Like the bandit hideout XD ) [There's a couple of houses, the alleyways, the pier back the way she came or the forest beyond. But that'd be if she's running past him.] * Shan dives down an alleyway. Maybe he won't fit? ( I can dream! :D ) (Hehe.) [The captain comes after her. And promptly trips on one of the boxes she dumped in the way. He lays splayed out in the alleyway struggling to get back up. That doesn't seem to matter because three more are coming up behind him, trying to clamber over after Shan. * Shan runs for it! She knocks over anything else available, too. [Shan sees some shadows on each side of the alley in the direction she's traveling. They're not there yet but they're closing towards the alleyway.] * Shan freezes. That's bad <.< * Shan dashes for the opening, hoping to make it there before they close in. [The hesitation was enough that they're closing in by now. Body roll.] [Shan runs towards the zombies and dive-rolls under their arms. They're getting rather irate now. Shan sees a few more houses along the way, a road heading out towards the beach, and a road heading inland.] ( Which one has the fewest zombies? ^^; ) (Beach front!) * Shan runs towards the beach. [The zombies keep going after Shan, chasing her towards the beach. A few more come around the corner in front of her to trap her.] * Shan dashes forward, hoping to pass them before they can. [A few of them take out pistols and fire for her legs. One hits the cobbles near her, but the other requires a ranged defense.] [Shan narrowly escapes the bullet and just manages to glance over her shoulder. She manages to catch just a shadow of movement leaping from the rooftop and landing on the backs of a few zombies. The figure is about 7' long, walking on all 4s, and has a...tail of some sort? But beyond that, it's hard to tell from just a casual glimpse. The head of the zombie the thing landed on is rolling near Shan's feet.] * Shan isn't concerned with that. Undead don't have tails. [No, but the undead in front of her are closing their formation. That might be a problem.] * Shan is a little more concerned with that. She hesitates, looking for a way through. [No easy way. Nope.] * Shan glances back. Zombies there too? [There are zombies there too. And now that she gets a good look, she notices what she saw earlier. It looks as if the monster is a giant lizard, with lightning crackling mildly along the currents of its back. Its skin is a leathery green with some yellowish swirls here and there and its eyes are bugged. The other mentionable thing is that it seems to be attacking the zombies behind her.] * Shan heads back that way. It seems safer. Somehow. [As she spies that, there's also a figure that seems to be chanting behind the zombies. Pretty soon, the area around the zombies extends with spikes out from the ground, impaling one of them. He (at least it sounds like a he) lets out a sigh. "That's enough, Barbaras..."] * Shan approaches cautiously, watching from a distance. At least, trying to be at a distance. [The voice seems familiar from somewhere. After pondering it out, even in her crazed phobic state, Shan recognizes it as Valen.] * Shan is less phobic with a giant electric lizard nearby. [Cautious approach doesn't mean less zombies. Zombies attack! Their swords whiff, but definitely the breeze from the swing is felt.] * Shan throws a sidekick at it, trying to push it away. [Shan punts the zombie onto the ground. It struggles to try and get back to its feet.] [Okay. Order is Shan, Zombies 1, Barbaras, Zombies2, Valen, Zombies 3] [Zombies 3 are the ones blocking the way to the beach, by the way.] ( How many per group? ) [A few of the zombies, one with only one hand, slash at the giant lizard, putting a gash in its side. The lizard lashes out its tongue to try and get at them, to no avail.] (3 per group, 4 in Zombies 3) [Valen chants another spell. A flock of birds caw their way in the air and peck at a few of the zombies faces. The zombies don't seem to care for that. One manages to grab on to Valen. The other shoots at Shan. The rest don't seem to know what they're doing as they miss their attacks horribly. But ranged defense for that one.] [Shan takes a bullet in the leg. Hopefully the bullet's still sanitized. Otherwise, eww... It still does hurt though.] [Shan's turn now.] * Shan grimaces and just tries to get behind cover for now. [Shan heads for cover! Some zombies chase after her, but not all of them. The ones attacking Barbaras miss this time. Barbaras responds by slamming his tail into one of them and bowling it over, out for the count.] [Some of the zombies try for Valen and for Barbaras but to no avail. Meanwhile the crows take out another two zombies. Pecked to death. Ouch.] [Shan's turn. 6 zombies left.] * Shan frowns. She jumps and throws a front kick at the nearest zombie, both with the same foot. She doesn't want to kick with the injured one for some reason. [The zombie gets whacked with the foot and reels from the attack. It falls down onto its knees as its head is taken right off and then collapses to the cobbles. 5 left.] * Shan makes an effort to land on the same leg she kicked with, too. [Shan manages to land on the same leg.] * Shan adopts a one-legged Kung-Fu pose. [Barnabas and Valen's crows manage to take down two more zombies. The rest of the zombies, though, all pile on top of Valen. He falls to the cobbles as the zombies claw at him as the crows go wild.] [Shan's turn again.] * Shan makes her way over there and throws a kick at one. [Shan kicks the zombie, making it fly off of Valen's back. The lizard leaps on one of the zombies and starts pawing at it, its heavy weight keeping the zombie down. Meanwhile, Valen's left fighting the remaining one. "I thank you for your assistance. Now if you could do it once more..."] * Shan prepares to kick it. "You make it sound as though it was easy." * Shan kicks it! [Shan kicks it off Valen. And the zombie threat is neutralized. Mostly. The captain doesn't seem to be among them.] * Shan immediately drops to the ground and gets to work on her leg. Ow ow ow. * Valen sighs and gets himself up, dusting himself off. "What brings you to this town, anyhow?" * Shan tears off her pant leg as she gets out her medical tools. "I was about to ask you the same thing." Well, we finally left the Veil when we decided we needed to collect supplies. From our position, this was the closest port. Although it seems that stopping here was a...tactical error. * Valen lets out a long dejected sigh and slumps his shoulders. "Though, I regret, it is in keeping with the lady's good fortune." * Shan talks as she works. "How so?" * Valen translates. "She finds trouble wherever she goes." Ahh. Yes, I can see how that might be the case. * Valen groans but suddenly looks up at the sky, dismissing the birds. They fly off into the sky. "So we arrive on this island. Pretty soon everyone is shutting their doors. Some man came and warned them about the attack. I didn't get a chance to see him. But of course, the lady wouldn't stand to sit idly by..." * Valen rolls his eyes and gestures to the giant lizard, whose yellow portions are slightly glowing in the lack of light... "She's always had odd tastes. This is her pet after all..." * Shan casts a glance at the lizard. Then back to Valen. "It must be very difficult for you." * Valen lets out a long sigh. "It is. It truly is..." * Valen shakes his head. "But what of you? What brings you to this doomed town?" Much the same reason, we are in need of supplies, having fled from Port Rio during an attack. * Valen raises an eyebrow. "Port Rio is under attack as well? At the same time? This, I had not heard of. From whom?" I do not know. * Valen frowns. "An unknown enemy. This bodes poorly." Agreed. We must confer but... are you here alone? This seems an ill place for a... * Valen chuckles at that. "Forgive me. I almost fell into something horridly cliche." * Shan shakes her head. "You're quite right. But then had I known there would be such things here, I would have brought my bodyguards." Our ship is in port, if you'd like to talk. * Valen nods and glances at the fallen zombies. "Is that the last of them?" * Shan glances at them. "I..." She suppresses a shudder. "No. The captain is missing." Captain? * Shan nods. "The first one of... those things that I saw was dressed as a captain. Perhaps it's an entire ship's worth of monsters." We....yes, let's discuss this later. Come on. [And off they went. End in here.]
