[When we last left our buckleswashers, they were on board a commendeered vessel in the midst of a foggy Port Rio under siege. Virgil had taken flight in order to talk with Jake and the rest of them are playing the waiting game. But hopefully, Virgil doesn't take too long. There's enemy ships all around. And who knows where from?] [The session. She has started.] * Naiya waits. At the sails. Not much else she can do. * Shan steers. Wheeee! * Nasira stands at the anchor and looks around, taking in the fight. Every once in a while, she returns her gaze to Filis. * Enzo takes in the surroundings and tries to make sure no-one's screwing up. Including him. * Filis looks back at Nasira. She doesn't seem to pleased. She then casts her gaze out to the waves. "We're sitting ducks out here.." Thanks for saying that. * Nasira grins. "If you'd rather swim, we can arrange that." * Naiya looks at Nasira, frowning. Indeed. Yeah, I'm sure it wouldn't be that far to swim back to Zaxon. ... * Naiya closes her eyes, and tightens her grip on the mastropes. * Filis takes a deep breath and shakes her head. "Really now...if you choose to take me along, I could quite do without the attitude." She leans against the railing. "It's my first time in a firefight like this..." * Nasira rolls her eye. Yeah? Me too. * Shan turns to glare at Filis. "Who came to whom, begging for help?" Sha-! *she bites her lip, and tightens her grip.* In my country, an attitude like that would have your head rolling on the deck by now. Be thankful I am so lenient. * Enzo nods. "Yeah, what Shan said!" * Nasira chimes in, helpfully, "She's right, y'know. Those Chu-Lin - they're vicious." * Naiya opens her eyes, slowly. "Shan, please show some respect. She did not disrespect you." * Filis looks solidly and defiantly at Shan. "I came to you, I agree. And you were kind enough to help. But if you suffer an ill attitude at every little comment that I make, then I am sorry but I am hard pressed to see why you would help me at all." And the rest of you, too! We can still throw you overboard, y'know. * Nasira glares at Naiya. * Enzo glares at Naiya. * Filis sighs. "Where are the lifeboats? If you are going to feud this much over my simple presence then perhaps I should leave." I don't think so, lady. Don't want you hurt. * Nasira keeps her eye on Naiya. "Besides, my feud's not with you." There's only one and we'd need it more if things really go bad here. Anyway, if you wouldn't keep complaining all the time we wouldn't have anything to say to you. * Naiya looks back at Nasira for a moment, then breaks the gaze, with sad eyes. * Shan folds her arms into her robe and nods to Enzo. * Filis looks off away from Enzo, a bit ashamed of herself. "It was not--it was not meant to be a complaint..." * Naiya sighs, and stares at the deck, only minimally paying attention to her surroundings. * Nasira glares at Naiya a bit longer, then turns her attention up to the Griffon. * Enzo sniffs. "Yeah, well, just leave us alone, okay? Unless you find something useful you can do." * Filis hangs her head over her arms over the railing and sighs. "I simply do not wish to die out here. Any option seems to point to that possibility. Forgive me for being a little depressed. I will not bother you again." * Nasira shrugs. "If you're not out to die, what were you doin', having a bunch of guards and that kid chase you down?" * Shan turns her attention back to the Griffon. * Naiya looks up for a moment, taking in the surroundings, then glancing momentarily at Enzo. * Enzo shrugs and goes back to takin' care of the sails. Vithril desires my capture. Obviously. * Enzo responds without looking down. "Yeah, and whyzat?" I am not entirely sure... Well, you could ask 'em. Maybe they want to throw you a great big party. I am not important, nor wealthy, nor particularly powerful. I have some magical affinity, certainly, but I am not certain if it is anything worth such a dogged persuit... * Naiya narrows her eyes. When'd they start chasing you around, anyway? I first started encountering them within the last week or so. I did not know what to expect at first... Didja anything before then? Maybe with the magic? I mean, guards usually start chasing me after I attack somebody. Yeah, but *you* just kill 'em, don't you? * Naiya flicks her gaze back at Nasira for a second, before shifting it back to Filis. Well, depends on who's involved. Some people don't need to be killed. Others do. ...yeah, I can see that. * Nasira points out Naiya. "Like when they challenge me to duels, and I tell them they're gonna die. We have to finish that, by the way." * Enzo blinks. "Hey, wait a second. We heard of you before a week ago, though. Those guys were being tough all over the place lookin' for you." * Naiya grins amusedly. "It wouldn't be fair in a small boat. Why, you might drown, and I'd have to save you!" * Filis looks over at Enzo. "They were?" * Filis then glances over at Naiya and Nasira curiously. * Enzo nods, still keeping his main attention on the sea. "Yeah, I think. Unless I wasn't out as long as I thought." * Nasira smirks. She flicks her knife out, twirling it with bandaged fingers. "I love unfair odds." * Shan rubs her head. It may have been longer...*she sighs* Ever since they started tracking me, the days have been a blur... So if you didn't do anything wrong, how'd you know they were after you? * Naiya continues looking at Nasira, her sad eyes bright with something. "If you wish to continue it now, when there are more, more immediate, and easier foes possible, be my guest." * Filis looks at Enzo more readily. "But still...if I have done anything to offend you, I apologize." She looks at Shan. "To you as well. I do not know what I am capable of on this ship, but I am willing to help..." Easier? See a foe in reach of my sword other than you? A friend told me to get out of the inn where I was staying. I did not know why... * Naiya gestures around. "I am sure there will be more blood spilt, and seen, before this night is over." I would rather we not be interrupted again. * Shan nods to Filis. "It looks as though I will need all the cooperation I can get." * Nasira takes three steps forward, and there's a quick flash of steel and she has Naiya's neck at saifpoint. "Maybe," she says softly, and her eye gleams. "But you're tempting me." * Naiya smiles softly. "It would be meaningless if you did not want it." * Filis frowns as she looks at Naiya and Nasira, still talking to Shan. "I hate to intrude..." She lets out a quick breath and looks solidly at Nasira as she draws on her. "Here now, stop this this instant. We are limited enough in crew already." She walks forward towards the both of them. * Enzo calls down nonchalantly, still not looking down. "I wouldn't do that if I were you." * Nasira raises her voice, "I suggest you not do that, lady." * Shan watches for Virgil. * Naiya reaches a hand up, and gently pushes Nasira's saif-hand away. She intones solemnly, "Save your energy, and savor the moment, warrior. You will get your chance." But not now. * Filis stops and looks up at Enzo. "Perhaps. But we will be dead in the water now if we lose another life." * Enzo spares a tight little grin. "Yeah, but if you get in Nasira's way you might lose yours, and wouldn't that be a shame?" * Filis glances at the rigging, then looks up the main mast. "I will go to the crow's nest for a look if I may." * Nasira snarls at Naiya's words. The saif is moved, and her knife hand trembles. "You have no *idea* what I want." * Enzo frowns a little, but he's got his hands full with the sails, since Naiya's playing the Moron Game (aka antagonizing Nasira). "Yeah, whatever, I guess. Don't fall off, though. That's bad." * Naiya smiles again. "I hope to find out what it is that you want. Perhaps then I can begin to make amends." * Nasira sheathes her weapons. "Can you swim?" * Naiya blinks a bit at the sudden change of topics. "Yes." * Filis climbs the mast! Shakily but she does it. * Nasira smirks. Good. * Nasira spins, unsheathing her saif in a beautiful, quick arc, bringing the flat to slam into Naiya's back and side. [Okay, here's the scenario:] [Naiya doesn't see the blade coming and gets knocked against the railing and tumbles over. This is just in time for Nasira to catch Shan out of the corner of her eye. She's far too much in midswing to react now...] [Shan's tackle pushes Nasira after Naiya, into her, and she too is hanging goes hanging over the edge.] [Shan's tackle pushes Nasira after Naiya, into her, and she too is hanging over the edge.] * Naiya blinks a bit at Nasira next to her, then chuckles. "I told you it wouldn't be fair in a small boat." * Enzo spares a glance. "...uh-oh." * Shan reaches over the side and tries to pull Nasira up, muttering, "Damnable fools." * Nasira goes tumbling over the edge, but she has the presence of mind to grab the rail with her free hand and dangles from the edge. Blood starts to seep clear through the bandages as those blisters, burns, and cuts are aggravated from her grip, but she simply glares at Naiya before pulling herself up with her one arm. [Just then the rain starts to fall on the ship. Plip plip.] * Enzo gets a little wet. * Naiya does much the same thing herself, making sure she's got a grip, and climbing up herself. Hey, a shower. That's nice. I was meaning to give her a bath, though. * Filis looks over her shoulder and gasps. "Is everyone al--" She glances at Shan and Enzo and suddenly quiets down. "--right...nevermind..." I ... am fine. * Shan steps back, glaring at both of them, arms crackling with electricity. "Fools!" * Naiya doesn't back down, and glares back at Shan. * Enzo glances nervously at Shan's electricity, then back up at the sky. "...uhh..." * Filis sighs and glances at Enzo. "I suppose I should continue climbing up and ignore this?" [Nasira manages a nice flip over the rail after all. Pretty good for one- handed. Under her bandages still looks rather nasty.] This will be resolved between the two of us, the sooner the better. Nothing you say or do will change that. [Enzo sees Virgil on the horizon! To the rescue!] I will not have such insolence in my presence. If you want to fight, you may do it on your own time. [Well, not really to the rescue. But he's there.] Yeah, best to--or, on the other hand, never mind. Hey, guys! Flyboy's back! Sure, boss. And while you're doing the ordering, order her to shut the hell up. But you will NOT risk our lives for your petty animosity. * Nasira sheathes her sword and shakes the hand she used to pull herself. The bandages are already coming undone. Her life wasn't at risk. There was no risk. * Nasira glares at Naiya. * Enzo waves at Virgil. None that you short-sighted fools could see. * Naiya looks at Nasira. "I did say, however, that now is not the time." For me to kill you? Yeah, you said that. * Nasira grins at Naiya. "But you can swim." * Nasira looks up to Virgil. * Naiya closes her eyes. "I will welcome death when it comes for me, but you will not be the one to deliver it." And she can make noise and call unwanted attention to ourselves. Yeah, a spash in the water's gonna be heard over a cannon shot. * Nasira twitches. * Naiya turns, and walks away, going to the spot Filis was occupying. You would be surprised. Especially a splash over here, where no cannons are firing. All we need is for the attackers to wonder what's happening and come to investigate. * Nasira doesn't seem to hear Shan. Her eye is on Naiya. * Virgil finally makes his way back and lands, putting the sack down. He blinks at everyone. "So, did you have fun while I was talking to Jake?" Kinda. Did you get everything you need? * Naiya doesn't notice Nasira or Virgil, or Shan even! She's staring out into the sea, looking around intently. * Nasira turns to Virgil and storms over to him. "Give me a target. Someone is going to die." Yeah, I obtained the most important things. Got your picture? ... There is no picture. Aww, that's too bad. Fine, I'm going to put this away, and then we'll be off. In fact, maybe you should start getting underway right now. [All of the sudden, Filis's voice from the crow's nest. It's nearly impossible to see her through the fog, but she yells, "Ships approaching! Coming from the north!"] ...whyzat? We being chased? * Nasira turns that way, peering. * Naiya turns back to face the others, acknowledging Virgil- and then Filis. ....or that. Yeah, good motivation. All right guys, let's get this thing out now. * Enzo gives orders concerning getting us out of the way. * Naiya smiles widely at Virgil. "Welcome back, Virgil. Just in time." * Virgil motions and, hopefully, the winds pick up again. As well as that misty covering for the ship. Yes, let's. * Shan drives! * Naiya goes back to the mast, to her spot of Assisting Enzo. * Enzo peers at the ships as he does stuff. * Virgil looks at the ships as he starts casting. [Most of you realize that it's hard to find a cardinal direction with no directional markers. Virgil and Shan think Filis might be talking about the port (left) hand side of the ship. Naiya's fairly sure that it's towards the bow.] * Naiya looks, too! [Enzo too! Go Enzo!] Come on, move it! The wind won't do anything if the sails don't catch it! * Enzo gives appropriate suggestions, then. "Working on it!" [Nasira's got a vague sense of how silly Filis is to say north instead of a boat direction.] * Shan drives! Away from the ship. And away from the other ships. * Naiya nods, and listens to the Enzo. * Enzo heaves and hos and other shiply stuff. [Nasira hoists like a demon. The anchor is up before they know it. Unfortunately, the steering seems a little rough on the boat. The rain on the boat is hitting a little harder, or sounds like it is. Enzo tries his best to pull the sails in the direction of the wind...and realizes that he's going to have to teach some people how to work the sails...oy.] * Enzo grunts'n'strains and generally goes oof! * Naiya is trying! Honest! She's grunting and pulling hard and really putting her back into it! [Meanwhile, the sails pick up the normal wind and a bit of Virgil's magic wind but the pressure is on to make it work. No one is sure how fast the other boat is approaching...] * Shan struggles to steer. * Nasira calls, once the anchor's well aboard and her other bandaged hand is soaked through with blood from aggravated wounds, "Anchor up!" Thanks! Um, can you come and help a little over here, then? * Enzo gives Nasira instructions to help with the sails and stuff. Yeah, I'll give it a shot. * Nasira walks over to help with the sails, so long as Naiya doesn't get in her way. * Naiya lets Nasira take over. Masts and sails just don't seem to be her forte. Thanks! [The rain seems to be harder outside the rim of the fog, but it's hard to see.] * Enzo peers through the mist. Almost literally, one might think. * Filis 's voice calls out from above. 'Odd.' Yeah. Oh? What? I was certain they spotted us but they don't seem to be approaching as fast as I thought they would. Current's against them, I think. Still... * Enzo keeps a-workin'. Current? Can you make out who they are? They fly no flag that I can see. Pirates perhaps? Anything coming from another side, lady? Hold on... [There's some scuffling up from the crow's nest.] None that I can...wait a moment....which direction are we headed? * Nasira shrugs. She looks to Enzo. * Naiya takes a gander around. "Hard to tell in all this fog, and we've moved since..." * Naiya bites her lip, trying to orient herself. * Virgil thinks for a few seconds. "Head east to Forthsith. They're the closest port." * Enzo nods. "Yeah. So pretty much straight ahead." I think....yes, the coast looks clear for now. Let us be cautious though... * Shan nods and turns the ship that way. [So the ship headed off through the Virgil made fog. To Forthswith! And adventure!] [Session End.]
