[Warning, Seekers game incoming. Please keep your hands and feet inside the caravel at all times. If your ship is torn to pieces, driftwood may be used as a floatation device.] [o/~Gooooing to the chapel and we're...gonna get blown up...~/o Well, one should hope not. But our crew finds itself in a hairy predicament as the assault on Port Rio continues. The bells of the upper city have started to chime with warning, and there's a scurry outside in the streets as people pull away from the city proper.] [Naiya went out to check where all the commotion was coming from. The rest is in the church with our good friend, priest, and Filis, the evasive girl being hunted down by our weirdo twins. Nasira has just arrived bloodied and burnted. With her government official in tow. Now what?] [Session Start!] ( Who's towing who? >.> ) (I thought Shan was towing me!) [Figure of speech. Run with it and quit being so technical, you technical technicalities.] ( Are you accusing us of being Dunlorians? ) * Enzo looks slightly relieved. "Oh, there you are." * Virgil frowns at Nasira. "You look like hell." * Shan nods. "We can't stay here much longer." * Nasira grins at Virgil. She does look like hell. Or like she's been through hell. "You should see the other guy." * Enzo nods. Where to? * Filis looks as they enter and frowns at Nasira. "You're hurt...what happened?" * Virgil takes a deep breath. "You know how we're going to get out? I'm going to cause a fog to cover us as we make our escape." * Filis then swivels her steady earnest gaze to Virgil. "You have a ship?" First we need a ship. Perhaps we can find the Griffon. The Griffon would be perfect. * Enzo barely glances at Filis. "What do you think happened? She got sliced up because you can't find your own way out of here." Would Jake be willing to take us on? He doesn't have a choice if he wants to get out of dock. * Virgil grins. * Filis looks steadily at Enzo and sighs, turning aside. "I was only concerned...must you be so harsh..? Anyways, he wouldn't turn us down. What? It's true. * Nasira shrugs at Filis and opens her mouth to reply, then gets passed over! She decides she doesn't care, instead standing by Shan's side. * The priest steps forward and clears his throat, holding his tome before looking at Virgil. "It'd be trouble...the docks would be the first place they head...are you sure..?" He wouldn't turn us down, provided he's there and the ship is intact and we can get past the guards. Don't forget his crew has to be willing to sail under these conditions, too! * Shan nods. He'll have clear sailing. I somehow doubt he'd be worried about the weather. I was thinking more about the crew. SOme already ran off on him once, remember? * Virgil concentrates and starts murmering as a light mist starts to set in... Just how heavy it gets, though... * Enzo winces as another impact hits the city. "...let's just get out of here. I don't think I want to watch this if I can't do anything about it." So, we're running away? [A fine mist starts to settle throughout the church.] * Nasira looks around. * Shan rubs her head in anticipation. "Yes, Nasira, we're running away. I forgot to bring my army with me in case something like this happened." * Virgil finishes chanting as his spell starts to take effect around himself. "No way we're taking them on, if that's what you mean." [The mist rapidly filters in more. Soon the features of the statue of Iris start to blur into the background of grey fog.] Well, dammit, boss. Remember not to leave your army at home next time. I find a nice army tends to come in handy when you least expect it. Yes, well... Or it would if I ever did find one. * Filis looks off to the side, sighing ashamed. "I would understand if you did not want to take me with you. I've been nothing but trouble for you..." Are you done arguing? * Naiya peeks her head into the church, glancing around. "Nasira? Shan?" * Shan turns her head, looking over her shoulder at Naiya. * Nasira turns, hand on her hilt. She eyes Naiya, and no, her hand doesn't leave the hilt. "Oh, it's you." [Fog flows out of the church into Naiya's face. She can just barely make them out still.] * Enzo starts, then blinks flatly. "Oh, it's Naiya." * Naiya 's face brightens, upon spying them. "Oh, good! I was afraid I had gotten lost..." * Virgil adjusts his glasses. "That you Naiya?" * Naiya nods, even though the gesture it probably lost in the fog. "It is." * Filis focuses her expression on Naiya, seemingly relieved that people seem not to be paying her much attention. Well, let's go then. Good. Now, would one of you be kind enough to guide us back to the griffon? * Shan turns her head back. "I think it is in our best interest to head to Zaxon, and see if we can learn more about our little evasive friend here." * Virgil pulls on his collar a little and smiles. "Yeah, Zaxon. Okay." Whatever. * Naiya pales momentarilly at the mention of going back to Zaxon. She quickly covers it it with a carefully nuetral nod. * Filis sighs and puts a hand on her chest, letting out a deep relieved breath. "I thank you..." Why don't you lead, Virgil? This is your fog. Because just since I can make it doesn't mean I can see through it. * Shan glances at Filis sternly, though not coldly. "Don't thank us yet. I am not one to go through with something like this without answers, and the ones you've given me have been less than satisfactory. Oh, it's not that thick. Let's go! Okay, lead the way then. * Enzo heads on out, seemingly heedless of the mist. * Virgil moves after Enzo. * Nasira grins at Shan. "Want me to keep an eye on her, boss? I've only got one." * Shan nods. "Yes, that might be a good idea." * Naiya steps aside, to let Enzo by. She makes to follow him shortly after. "... to the docks, right?" Yeah, sure. * Nasira edges over to Filis, smiling all the while. She puts an arm around the shorter girl's shoulders. "C'mon," she says, calmly ignoring the fact that blood's likely soaking through the bandages. "This'll be *lots* of fun." * Shan heads out towards the docks. "Let's move, quickly and silently." * Filis looks just as steadily back at Shan. "Believe me, I understand how you feel. I realize that I have not been so forthcoming.." She frowns to herself for a moment as she looks at Nasira but seems resigned to it. * Nasira smirks back at her. Y-yes. Of course. * Enzo moves, quickly and silently! TO THE DOCKS! You don't think I'd go and fight off whoever the hell was after you just to have you slip away, do ya? * Naiya frowns. She doesn't notice Nasira creeping out the shy girl. She must be used to her by now. * Virgil keeps after Enzo! * Naiya clinks after Enzo! * Filis shakes her head awkwardly and her eyes widen. Luckily, Nasira's not male so doe-eyed girls have no effect on her. "N-no. Of course no--ah.." Her hand flies up to her mouth. "I have not had a chance to thank you properly for that yet...t-thank you." * Enzo glares back. "SHHH." * Enzo continues! * Naiya glances back at Filis at the offer of thanks, frowning even more frowningly. * Nasira snickers and leads Filis along. * Filis shhs as she looks at Enzo. [Most of you are pretty stealthy, though Enzo has a bit of a hard time of it at first. Virgil scuffs a bit along the cobble stones as you make your way through the fog. There's murmurs about the streets about the sudden fog that's settled in. Visibility has gotten pretty bad by now, and the person in back can just barely see the one in front of them.] [In the background is the clinking of armor and more scuffing of shoes along the cobbleways. Slowly meandering through the streets, everyone makes their way towards the docks.] * Enzo keeps on keepin' on. To the docks. * Naiya isn't too sure about that. She does trust that Enzo is, though. * Nasira resists the urge to whistle. So she grins down at Filis every once in a while instead. She is far too happy about an attack on town. * Shan walks with dignity. DIGNITY!! * Virgil keeps on walkin'walkin'walkin'walkin'... * Enzo frowns. "Uh-oh." What is it? Griffon's not docked. * Enzo peers out into the distance. It...might be out there fighting off the attackers. * Shan blinks, also peering. "How can you tell?" Well, there are a bunch of ships out there. CHances are it could be one. Because everything left is either merchanteers or personal boats. And rowboats. Great. Now what do we do? I can't swim out there. [Shan catches the edge of the docks. They seem to fade off into the mist.] Perhaps we can find another ship. Hopefully so. * Enzo looks around for a likely one. ... * Filis glances about the docks. "Commandeer a vessel? Is that your suggestion?" * Virgil frowns. "Come on, it's gotta be around here somewhere." * Naiya looks even MORE worried. * Enzo scratches his head. "Okay, who's willing to work a sloop?" * Enzo looks at Shan. "Unless you think a rowboat would be better?" I've practiced on slanted land before... what does that have to do with this situation? Er, sloop not slope. It's a sorta boat. But we'd all need to work it. * Shan blinks cluelessly. "Oh." I'm afraid I know little about seafaring. Yeah. I know how to operate one, but... I'm really bad at actually *doing* it. Sloop would probably be safer'n a pair of rowboats, though. I dunno. * Naiya raises a hand. "What Virgil said." * Enzo looks at Shan. "Well, you're the government official around here. Easy and dangerous, or safe and hard?" * Naiya digs out her spyglass from her pack, and peeks through it, testing to see it it can puncture the fog or not. I...um...I would be willing to do any work that you put me to. [It's a matter of light, that is...spy glasses work on light reflection. Given that there is none, Naiya sees a nice floating grey in the lense.] * Shan shakes her head. "I do not have the experience in this field to offer an opinion." * Nasira idly scratches at the back of her neck, below her ponytail, with her free hand. I can sink really good. * Naiya shakes her head, and slides the spyglass closed, tucking it back away. "I thought as much." * Enzo chews on his lip as he ponders, looking around and back and forth. ... Why do you think looking through a spyglass would help see through fog? * Virgil walks along the boats, looking for which one is most seaworthy and easiest to handle with such a small (and inexperienced) crew. * Naiya quirks her mouth. "It might have worked." * Naiya can't do much besides look around, so... she looks around! * Shan looks around too, not that she has any clue what to look for. Virgil, can you fly over to the Gryffon and see what's going on? If you'd feel safe doing so. ...well. If the Griffon's not out there or we can't get to it, rowboats aren't gonna do us much good. Well, we can't very well stay here. If I did, it'd take so long to verify which ship was which... * Enzo nods. * Filis nods too. We might as well get one that'll get us places even if Griffon's not there. ...liiiiiike...that one! It's not reasonable. We need to take one of these. * Enzo points! * Shan nods. * Nasira looks at where Enzo's pointing! * Virgil looks where Enzo's pointing, too. ( Enzo is pointing at kittens! Take one! XD ) (Yay! Free kittens!) * Enzo points to a single-mast, single-sail craft with a shallow-cut hull and lantina sails. * Naiya bites her lip, then looks over at Enzo's pointing. [Following Enzo's pointing finger is just the faint shadow of a small (?) ship. You think. Maybe.] Well, heck. You'd know better than I do, kid. * Virgil walks over to the ship and looks over its hull briefly. (Way to CnP Enzo. XD) * Shan nods. (Do the kittens come with boots?) (Yes, CnP!) ( I typed that, thanks. :P ) * Naiya heads over the the CnP'd ship, looking it over herself. (I know. ^_^) It's fairly maneuverable, and I...don't think it should be hard to sail? We'll see! C'mon, let's go! * Enzo goes. Blithely, of course. (/me looks it over for scissor marks. Hopefully Enzo did the 'cut' part right.) If he says it is seaworthy... * Filis follows Enzo. * Nasira grins and goes, taking Filis with her! "Great. It's been getting boring out here." * Shan goes. With dignity, of course. "I will trust Enzo's judgement on the matter." ( Wah, responsibility. ): ) * Naiya momentarilly looks amonst the others, counting heads. Six. Does if have the supplies for ... nevermind. I'm thinking too far ahead. * Virgil nods. "Looks stable enough to me." He steps on board. * Enzo talks and walks. "I figure if Virgil and Naiya know the basics, I can help them with the more complicated stuff..and, uh, everyone else can do the basics. * Shan nods. How about this. I'll make sure the wind's best suited for the ship, the rest of you handle the sails? That should help. And who will steer? And, uh, someone needs to steer. I'll do it. * Filis looks at Shan. ...uh. Okay. I'll help if things get too freaky, though. * Shan nods. "Just tell me where to go." If you're providing the wind, I can provide navigation if we're out long enough. * Enzo nods. I can easily do both, you know. Oh, good. * Virgil gestures. "Okay, where to?" Here, hold on. Out of here's a good start. * Nasira snickers. Do we still wanna try for the Griffon? * Naiya digs through her bag, retrieving a rolled-up bundle of paper, and opens it up. We'll head to another Maltan port, then make our way to Zaxon. Only if you see it. I think we should go for the Griffon. * Nasira gleams. "Should be fun." I don't have my maps with me, however. We'd need to get to the Griffon to get them. [A faint breeze starts to pick up but strangely (well probably not so much given it's magical) the fog doesn't dissipate.] * Naiya shows it to the others. It's a map of the Known World! She points at their current location on it. ...well, let's hope we see it then. And my books, and my crystal ball, and... Well, you get the picture. You've got a picture on the ship, too? Do you really need the picture? I mean, sentimental value, yeah, but... ... Literallists. * Naiya would facepalm, but she's holding a map with both hands. [There's no "You are Here" signs or "blinking lights" where Naiya points.] ( No, it's just Malta. <_< ) If we see it, very well. * Filis looks at the map, then looks at the rest of them. "What will become of Port Rio though I wonder...?" * Naiya stays quiet for a moment, then starts rolling it back up. Look, lady. * Enzo winces, then glares at Filis for a moment before turning away and seeing to...uh...boat-type stuff. We will share it's fate if we stay... I have no clue. But if we don't get out there, how're we gonna do anything about it anyway? * Naiya sighs, angstilly. "I would much prefer to stay and try to do what I can to save who I could, but..." * Shan blinks. Did Nasira just agree to head away from the fight? o.O (Are you kidding? Ask her to clarify. ;P) Let's get going already! ( Nah, she's looking for the fight where she can actually stab people. ) ( 'Cause cannonballs aren't as fun to stab, and also rougher on the saif. ) (Right in one, Enzo!) ( XD ) (You learn well.) ( Thank you, Master. ) * Filis looks taken aback, then points to the continent. "I only meant...shouldn't the nearby ports be warned?" I believe I did say we were heading to another Maltan port, yes? Let's get the ship off the docks first, right? * Shan nods. Right. * Filis shirks at Shan's statement, looking embarrassed. "I must have missed that.." * Enzo sets about teaching people and giving orders. He does it in an Enzoish way, but it's still a little surprising. * Nasira doesn't seem to mind! She knows nothing. NOTHING! * Shan walks up to the wheel and prepares to drive the boat! * Naiya listens! She's familiar with the terms, at least. * Virgil starts making the wind do, well, what's good for the ship. Hopefully it'll make them not screw up too bad. [It looks like a decent size and will carry all of you without needing much extra crew (though extra crew wouldn't hurt). The gangplank is not currently out and the ship is moored in the docks. The wheel seems to have some crude device holding it in place.] * Enzo hops up and pulls the plank out while he explains, then. * Naiya gets on and gets her armor off while Enzo explains! * Enzo , assuming there's not more stuff, finishes explaining and then blinks at the BoatClub (tm). * Virgil studies the sails and gets ready to do what needs to be done. * Enzo tries to break it without breaking the wheel as well. * Shan peers at it. "How... strange" * Naiya looks at the BoatClub. Does it have a thin point? [Not really.] ...Nasira? Think you could get this thing off without breaking or damaging the wheel too? * Nasira blinks and looks back. "What do you want me to do?" I dunno. Maybe if you manage to burn through it...er...here...and here? * Enzo points at parts that would accomplish the forementioned objective. * Naiya keeps watch while Enzo and Nasira plot on how to steal the boat. * Nasira eyes that, then shrugs and flips out her knife. "You got it, kid." She heads over, and the knife gets a nice, molten edge as she slices through where Enzo indicated. * Shan watches Narisa do her work. [Nasira manages to control the fire. The edges of the BoatClub smolder a bit but her handiwork was careful enough that it didn't burst into flames and the wheel along with it.] Thanks! [The piece of wood falls free from the captain's wheel.] Okay Shan, here you go! Remember the stuff I said. * Naiya rolls here eyes as the sounds and cheers confirm the success. "We're ... stealing a boat." * Shan nods and takes hold of the wheel. "We'll send an I.O.U. later." * Nasira blows on the edge of her knife. It's back to cool steel again. She looks back at Naiya. Well, if you don't wanna, we can dump you in the sea right nw. * Naiya shakes her head. "I'll pass." Well, if you like, you can stay here. Or, what Nasira said. * Nasira grins. "Aww, too bad." * Filis looks out at the sea, leaning over the railing and not paying you much mind. * Virgil takes a breath. "We're not stealing. We're borrowing without permission." It's still stealing in the eyes of Fiona... the proper owners of this could escape on it. They can steal someone else's boat. What if they're already dead? ... Do we know that? If you don't want to do this, you don't have to come along. We mentioned that. We're not doing it because we want to, it's because we have to. ... I'm coming, if only becuase I could accomplish nothing here. * Shan nods. "Get this ship started." [The anchor needs to be hoisted and moorings undone. Once that is complete, it is smooth sailing, so to speak.] Well, then get on here and help us cast off. * Naiya is already on! And unarmored, too. * Enzo sets Nasira with her strongness to the anchor, and Naiya to the m oorings. * Naiya gets to untying the moorings! * Virgil gets to getting read- aw, who's he kidding. He has his face in a book. * Nasira is anchor! Woo hoo! * Naiya joins Filis in much the same position and demeanor as her, the moorings undone. Virgil, do you have your, uh...wind-thingy ready? * Enzo is working the sails, by the way. Wha? Oh, yeah. * Virgil puts his book away and gets ready to fill the sails with wind. [The ship starts to move with the fog, slowly creaking through the ocean waves.] * Naiya looks up from her staring into the sea momentarilly, then looks at Filis and stands up fully. She heads to the sails, and backs Enzo up there. [The ship slowly pulls away from the docks. Shan spins the wheel to a hard left. Just in time to avoid the dock as well. The boat sloshes through the waters and starts to shake. Definitely harder than those captains make it look.] Enzo, you see the Griffon? [But...the ship is moving! Go ship! Towards the cannon shots or away?] Easy, Shan...um, I'm looking... [Enzo spots the Griffon. The Griffon is backed by many ships from the Maltan navy. Or perhaps it's backing the ships from the Maltan navy. Either way, there's many ships flying black sails firing back. The Griffon is currently in heated battle with a nao-type ship.] ...there it is! I see it! * Enzo points in its general direction. [The ships don't seem to have the distinguishing features of a nation or anything like that to them. Silly ambushers. Never identify themselves.] Let's get over there then! Right! * Filis puts her hand underneath her brow. "But how will we identify ourselves? Especially through this fog..." Do we want to get on yet? I can lower the fog, but that makes us easy targets. Or I can just make it smaller... This is kind of heavy. Er...I dunno. Would you be able to make it smaller without making it obvious that something our-sized was coming from this direction? ... I don't think it's a wise idea to try and get back on in the middle of a cannonfight. That depends...didn't someone mention something about flying? I can fly, but don't expect me to carry you people over there. I'm not very good at it. * Naiya looks at Virgil. "A message hardly has any weight." * Virgil adjusts his glasses. "Well, that's a different story." * Shan nods. I'd like to get closer before trying it, though. And the fog will follow me when I go. That is what i meant...taking a message over...and you said something about your equipment... Hardly the kind of stuff we can transfer easily. You can get it later. Your maps and equipment are not important in the short-term. You can go back for them in a less... pressing situation. Just start going there. I'll pick up what is most important immedeately. * Shan drives the boat that way. "Make it quick." I also need to, you know, tell Jack what is going on. ...you mean Jake? (Yeah, Jake. >_<) (It's been a while. So sue me.) Yeah, that's what I said. Jake. * Naiya frowns. She's been doing that a lot. ...right. * Shan frowns, turning the boat away. "There's other ships coming." * Enzo turns and looks. * Nasira blinks, then looks around. Which side? ...yeah, they don't look too friendly. And from where? * Shan jerks her head in the direction. * Naiya looks that way! * Enzo nods. "Yeah." * Virgil frowns. [Shan doesn't seem to turn the boat as fast as she'd like....the ships keep on coming...whether you were spotted through the fog though or not...] * Enzo peers off the port bow! ...Virgil, can you push us out of the way a little bit? I'll try, but the sails really are better for that. * Virgil tries to do just that! Yeah, we're trying our best, but.... If I'm reading their speed the way I think I am, they're gonna be a little too close for comfort... Maybe I should just stop them, then. ....that would be easier? * Naiya frowns. Most sailors aren't ready to handle a complete change in the wind, I'll have you know. Don't. Well--huh? Don't give them any reason to suspect us. * Naiya bites her lip. "... it'd be better if we're not noticed, unless we want to be involved." * Virgil shrugs. "Then start turning this boat faster. I can't move a craft if the sails don't pick up the wind." It's not my fault the blasted thing doesn't turn. * Virgil thumps his staff on the deck and the wind picks up a bit. [The winds whip at the sails. Naiya soon finds out she doesn't quite have what it takes to be a sailor, but Enzo takes up the slack...this time. He certainly knows he's taking up the slack though.] * Enzo grunts, but holds on. Hurrgh! He's a manly Enzo, yes he is! * Naiya suffers silently, straining at the sails. [* Shan drives! [The ships slowly keep coming..the Griffon is just in view against the fog, a sillouhette amongst otherwise foggy background. There is a flash as cannons crackle on the opponent's side. At spots, there are more flashes of cannons. The fog doesn't seem to stop that..] [The ship closes in within flying distance for Virgil if he cares to try.] * Virgil motions, and he starts flying. Wheee! Not quickly at all, mind, but it should be enough to get to the Griffon. * Naiya blinks, watching him go. She's obviously impressed. * Filis looks up at Virgil carefully. "And now we wait..." * Enzo umphs. "Could use a little help with these sails here, if you're done watching Virgil float around..." Oh, sorry! * Nasira watches him go. * Naiya grins, embarassedly, and gets back to focusing on the sails. [Virgil disappears into the fog as he flies, far far away...] [Session End!]
